St. John the Theologian - Renovated Entrance and Chapel

For the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. John the Theologian in Tenafly, New Jersey, SNS Architects & Engineers, PC was appointed to design the new 'Katholikon' and entrance lobby to the Chapel of the Dormition of the Theotokos.

Expressed with a high ceiling coffered with Honduras mahogany millwork, the space was created by expanding the existing lobby outward, utilizing the area of a previously covered portico to create a new all-glass entrance.

Our design team redirected entrances to the church office and executive conference room off of the new 'Katholikon' which acts as the reception area to the cathedral.

Included in the design were the selection of all finish materials and colors and the selection of furniture in and outside the chapel.
